We are seeking two ambitious Postdoctoral Research Associates who is passionate about foundation models, multimodal AI, and longitudinal health and care data to join our world-leading multidisciplinary team at the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre Digital Infraestructure. You will collaborate with experts in computational medicine, clinical informatics, and translational healthcare, working at the cutting edge of AI innovation in medicine.
You will harness real-world clinical data from the Greater Manchester Care Record and the North West Secure Data Environment, as well as partner with NHS trusts, to develop revolutionary generative AI approaches and foundation model architectures for creating synthetic virtual patient populations from vast, multimodal healthcare datasets. Your work will involve designing advanced deep learning algorithms and high-throughput workflows for longitudinal patient trajectory modelling, incorporating clinical variables, diagnostic imaging, digital pathology, multi-omics data, and electronic health records.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to apply your expertise to large-scale population health datasets, including UK Biobank, clinical trials data, and real-world data from across Greater Manchester's integrated care system and the North West Secure Data Environment, making a transformative impact in precision medicine, cardiovascular health, cancer research, and respiratory medicine.
Working under the co-supervision of Prof. Alejandro F. Frangi (Computer Science) and Dr. Stuart Grant (Clinical Medicine), you will contribute to the NIHR BRC Digital Infrastructure Strategy and collaborate with the NIHR BRC Themes, translating cutting-edge AI research into solutions that directly impact patient care.
