Lumacron Technology, an ARKA Group L.P. Company, delivers world-class solutions to the optical communications marketplace. We have a new office in Edinburgh Park as we expand our European Headquarters, so we're seeking Industrial placement Firmware Engineers to help work on short term projects to enhance Lumacron's flagship network monitoring products. The Edinburgh office comprises of a small, dynamic team of 20 who enjoy a relaxed but hard-working culture. This environment allows unique access across all disciplines in the company for a broad work experience.
Position Overview
Reporting to the R&D Project Manager, candidates will be given the opportunity to take part in the day-to-day development process. The projects are multi-disciplinary and include architecture, design and verification of FPGA sub-systems, collaborating with peer design teams in hardware and software. The role is multi-disciplinary and includes development of FPGA IP Cores, full FPGA System-on-Chip RTL designs and verification test benches. Support will be given to integrate the candidate into the team and training on the tools that are used will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of designing FPGA IP cores or sub-systems
Knowledge of VHDL/Verilog HDL languages for FPGA design
Ability to work to tight timescales, individually and collaboratively
- Ability to comply with the UK GOV National Security Vetting Procedures (see link below)
Basic Qualifications
- Studying towards to degree level in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent discipline
Preferred Qualifications
Experience of the following:
Design with AMD/Intel FPGA and CPLD devices
- Designing (code entry to timing analysis) using Intel and/or Xilinx FPGA tool sets
Designing for high-speed optical interfaces
Experience developing software / embedded software
- Knowledge of Telecommunication/Data Communication
- Knowledge of Telecoms Framing and Packet structures (OTN, SONET/SDH, PDH, Ethernet)
