Salary: £16.20/hr during probation, £16.45/hr after
About Us
We are a well-respected, privately owned galvanizing company, known for delivering high-quality hot-dip galvanizing services to a wide range of industries, including construction, engineering, and agriculture. As we continue to grow, we are looking to expand our production team with dedicated and safety-conscious Galvanizing Operatives.
Job Purpose
As a Galvanizing Operative, you will be a key member of our production team. Working within a busy industrial environment, you will be responsible for preparing and processing metal products through the galvanizing process to ensure high-quality corrosion protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of Materials: Clean and prepare metal items for galvanizing by cleaning, fettling and jigging materials.
- Operating Equipment: Safely operate overhead cranes and other machinery throughout the galvanizing process
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of the galvanized components to ensure adherence to company quality standards and specifications.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Participate in safety training as required.
- Maintenance of Equipment: Assist in the routine cleaning of galvanizing equipment, ensuring all machinery operates efficiently and safely.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production quantities, inspections, and any deviations from standard operating procedures.
- Team Work: work collaboratively with other team members and shift supervisor
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in an industrial environment is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work a permanent night shift - Sunday to Thursday 10pm - 6am
- Willingness and ability to wear all issued PPE and follow safety protocols at all times
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Forklift or crane operation experience is a plus (full certified training can be provided)
Working Conditions
- You will be required to work in a plant environment, which may involve exposure to high temperatures and various chemicals. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided and must be worn at all times.
Salary and Benefits
- £16.20/hr during probation, £16.45/hr after 12 weeks
- 30 days holiday, increasing to 34 days with LOS
