London, Greater London, United Kingdom Robert Walters Full time £60,000 - £100,000 per year

A leading vendor-independent technology infrastructure development and outsourced managed services provider is seeking a Technical Project Manager to join their London-based team. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to bring your expertise from the IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) sector and play a pivotal role in delivering complex infrastructure, cloud, and architectural projects.

What you'll do:

As a Technical Project Manager based in London, you will be entrusted with overseeing the full spectrum of IT infrastructure, cloud, and architectural projects for a vendor-independent managed services provider. Your day-to-day responsibilities will centre around coordinating diverse teams of technical experts, managing budgets with precision, facilitating transparent stakeholder communications, and upholding rigorous governance standards. You will play an integral role in identifying risks early on and ensuring robust documentation is maintained throughout each project phase. By fostering an environment built on inclusive collaboration and knowledge sharing, you will help drive successful outcomes while supporting the professional growth of those around you. Your ability to champion communal learning initiatives will further enhance the team's capabilities as you contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the organisation.

  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent IT infrastructure, cloud, and architectural projects within the MSP environment, ensuring all milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineers, architects, and external vendors to ensure seamless execution of project plans while maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Manage project budgets meticulously by tracking expenditures, forecasting costs, and providing regular financial updates to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement by organising meetings, preparing presentations, and communicating progress updates in a clear and considerate manner.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation including risk registers, governance reports, technical handover materials, and lessons learned logs for future reference.
  • Identify potential risks early in the project lifecycle by conducting thorough assessments and implementing mitigation strategies collaboratively with relevant teams.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices by monitoring quality assurance processes throughout each phase of project delivery.
  • Support knowledge transfer initiatives by mentoring junior team members and sharing insights gained from previous MSP projects to foster communal learning.
  • Champion inclusive collaboration across departments by encouraging open dialogue, empathetic feedback sessions, and cooperative problem-solving approaches.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by participating in post-project reviews and recommending enhancements to existing methodologies.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Technical Project Manager position will bring proven experience from an IT Managed Service Provider background where they have successfully delivered complex infrastructure projects over several years. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to build trusting relationships with colleagues across various departments while maintaining clear channels of communication with stakeholders at all levels. You will possess deep technical knowledge of MSP product offerings combined with strong organisational capabilities that allow you to juggle competing priorities efficiently. Your familiarity with governance frameworks ensures that all aspects of risk management and documentation are handled responsibly. By demonstrating empathy in your interactions-whether mentoring junior staff or collaborating on problem-solving-you will contribute positively towards building an inclusive workplace culture focused on shared success.

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex IT infrastructure projects within an MSP setting for at least three years or more.
  • Proven ability to coordinate resources effectively across multidisciplinary teams while maintaining harmonious relationships built on trust and empathy.
  • Exceptional communication skills enabling you to present technical information clearly to both technical specialists and non-technical stakeholders alike.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MSP product stacks including cloud solutions, networking technologies, security protocols, and service delivery models.
  • Strong organisational skills allowing you to manage multiple priorities simultaneously without compromising attention to detail or quality standards.
  • Familiarity with project governance frameworks such as risk registers, compliance documentation requirements, and structured handover processes.
  • Critical thinking abilities that support effective problem-solving in dynamic environments where adaptability is key.
  • Commitment to collaborative teamwork demonstrated through previous experience mentoring colleagues or contributing to communal learning initiatives.
  • Desirable: Professional certification such as PMP or Prince2 which reflects your commitment to ongoing professional development within project management disciplines.
  • Ability to foster inclusive environments where every team member feels supported in sharing ideas and contributing towards shared objectives.
