Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support patient care across various medical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and specialized units such as ICU and Geriatrics. This role involves assisting healthcare professionals with clinical tasks, patient service, and administrative support to ensure high-quality care delivery. Candidates with hospital experience, familiarity with EHR systems, and a strong foundation in medical terminology and physiology are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient intake procedures, including recording vital signs and updating medical records in EHR systems
  • Support patient care activities such as medication administration, wound care, and monitoring patient status
  • Prepare patients for examinations or procedures, including X-ray or other diagnostic tests
  • Assist healthcare providers during procedures in various departments such as OR, PICU, or emergency medicine
  • Support hospital staff with documentation related to ICD coding and medical records management
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment adhering to hospital protocols and infection control standards
  • Provide compassionate patient service by addressing patient needs and ensuring comfort throughout their stay or visit
  • Support administrative tasks including scheduling, patient follow-up, and data entry in medical records systems

Skills

  • Knowledge of dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, medical-surgical practices, and emergency medicine is advantageous
  • Experience working in hospital medicine, urgent care, or Level I/II trauma centers preferred
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and familiarity with medical terminology and ICD coding
  • Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy to assist effectively in patient care activities
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as X-ray or OR experience are a plus
  • Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically
  • Ability to work efficiently in inpatient or outpatient settings across various specialties including Geriatrics, PICU, or Medical-surgical units
  • Knowledge of medication administration protocols and vital signs monitoring
  • Experience supporting hospital administrative functions such as documentation and intake processes
