We are currently recruiting for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work as part of a wider disciplinary team, offering educational and therapeutic support in a young person's home, as part of a bespoke EOTAS package based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.

The role would be ideally suited to an individual with extensive experience of working with SEND adolescences outside of a school environment.

You will be responsible for mentoring the student, therefore a strong understanding in Dyslexia and Autism (ASC) is essential.

What you will be responsible for:

  • You will be responsible for providing low-demand, low-arousal educational support for 15 hours per week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 1-5pm, Friday 1-4pm term time only.
  • Work within a low-demand, interest-led provision, within the young person's family home and local community
  • Assist in engagement, executive functioning Skills, and adapting to the changing needs of the individual you are supporting
  • Collaborate with tutors, therapists, and the wider team to ensure the provision is delivered as per the young person's EHCP
  • Accompany the student on outings and to community-based activities as required
  • Support learning through portfolio-based qualifications, with a focus on Preparation for Adulthood and the workplace

What we are looking for:

  • Experience supporting young person's with Dyslexia and ASC
  • Familiarity with child-led and low-arousal approaches
  • Willingness to work flexibly as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and family
  • Comfortable working in a home-based and community setting

Essential criteria:

  • 2+ years experience as an LSA/TA or in a similar child-facing support role
  • Clear Enhanced DBS (preferably on the Update Service)
  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle, non-drivers should not apply

Desirable criteria:

  • Minimum of a Level 1 Safeguarding qualification
  • Training in low-arousal and trauma-informed approaches
  • Experience in EOTAS, alternative provision, or home education environments
  • First Aid Training
