Job Title: Commercial & Technical Coordinator – EHS & Construction Safety

Location: London, South East or Midlands (regular client travel required)

Reporting to: Director Level

Works closely with: Heads of Construction S&R and EHS

Purpose of the Role

This role exists to bring commercial strength, operational consistency and scalable growth capability across the EHS and Construction Safety service lines.

The post holder will consolidate P&L oversight, embed commercial best practice, and support the development of new and existing client relationships, while enabling the two technical Heads of Department to remain focused on delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial & Financial Leadership:

  • Support the integration of two existing P&Ls into one unified commercial framework.

  • Develop pricing models, margin tracking, forecasting processes and commercial governance.

  • Drive commercial discipline across bid/no-bid, contract terms, and project profitability.

Client Growth & Business Development:

  • Identify, shape and pursue new business opportunities across both EHS and Construction Safety.

  • Work with client leads to expand existing accounts and strengthen long-term client partnerships.

  • Support the creation of value propositions, proposals and tender submissions.

Operational & Systems Improvement:

  • Standardise commercial processes, templates, contracting and reporting across both teams.

  • Introduce or refine CRM, pipeline tracking and project reporting tools.

  • Ensure operational efficiency while supporting sustainable growth.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Act as the commercial partner to the Heads of Construction S&R and EHS, aligning commercial decisions with delivery.

  • Influence cross-team behaviours to enhance commercial awareness and accountability.

  • Represent the business professionally in client, partner and industry environments.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a Commercial Manager / Operations Lead role within consultancy, technical services, construction safety, EHS or related sectors.

  • Demonstrable business development capability with a track record of growing accounts and winning work.

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen (pricing, forecasting, margin management).

  • Ability to influence across teams without direct line management responsibility.

Preferred / Advantageous:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (highly desirable)

  • Strong grounding in EHS, construction safety or safety-led consultancy environments.

  • Exposure to service line scaling, P&L consolidation or organisational growth programmes.

  • MBA or equivalent business education is appreciated but not required.

  • Pragmatic, structured and commercially driven.

  • Able to challenge constructively and build trust quickly.

  • Comfortable navigating change and ambiguity in a growing business.

Success Indicators (First 12 Months):

  • Single consolidated P&L and clear margin visibility.

  • Consistent commercial processes are embedded across both teams.

  • Strong BD pipeline growth and improved client retention/expansion.

  • Measurable uplift in commercial awareness across delivery teams.
