Job Description

The Role

As a key member of Fastmarkets' Legal, Risk and Compliance (LRC) team, you will play an active role in implementing and embedding the firm's risk and compliance framework. Acting as the compliance subject matter expert, you will work collaboratively with the LRC team and the Head of Risk and Compliance to identify and assess risk and compliance vulnerabilities across the business. You will lead and participate in internal control assurance activities, ensuring that Fastmarkets' processes and controls are aligned with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (including IOSCO/BMR). Your contribution will be instrumental in shaping, advancing, and operationalising the risk and compliance programme across the organisation.

The LRC function, led by the General Counsel and reporting to the CEO, is recognised as a strategic business partner essential to delivering Fastmarkets' objectives. This role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and provides valuable insight into risk and compliance issues impacting the organisation in today's evolving business environment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Implement and monitor Fastmarkets' compliance programme, ensuring ongoing adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the collaboration with business functions to implement and integrate the organisation's risk framework across all relevant areas
  • Conduct compliance reviews, investigations, and assurance activities to verify process integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide tailored compliance support and advisory services across the organisation.
  • Assist in updating policies and procedures to reflect evolving regulatory standards.
  • Respond to risk and compliance queries from all business areas.
  • Perform trade-sanctions screening in accordance with Fastmarkets' trade-sanctions policy.
  • Collaborate with business functions to develop, implement, and update compliance policies.
  • Lead or contribute to compliance-related projects and initiatives, offering expert guidance as needed.
  • Promote and embed the code of business conduct and risk management practices throughout the business.
  • Identify, assess, document, and regularly review operational risks in partnership with business functions.
  • Register risk events and manage the delivery of risk incident reports.
  • Develop and review key risk indicators in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Organise and facilitate risk and compliance assurance meetings with stakeholders.
  • Identify areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, implement corrective actions, and provide guidance to prevent recurrence.
  • Work closely with senior management and business units to enhance visibility of risk exposures and ensure alignment with the organisation's risk appetite.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of risk procedures, processes, and tools to support proactive risk management.
  • Deliver actionable insights on emerging risk areas to inform executive decision-making.
  • Oversee and manage the insurance programme across Fastmarkets.
  • Support business functions in evaluating potential threats and implementing business continuity policies and procedures for disruptive events.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, law, or a related finance discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a risk or compliance role ideally gained in a regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to implement and manage compliance programmes across an organisation.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness and a hands-on approach to execution.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and able to prioritise tasks effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively within a small team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders on complex issues.
  • Strong written skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and high-quality documentation.
  • Experience managing risk and control activities, with a solid understanding of operational risks.
  • Numerate and proficient in computer applications, including Excel.
  • Preferred knowledge of IOSCO and BMR regulations.
