Overview

We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to support our Kitchen Team at our wonderful Care Home. This role is structured as 6 Hours a day for 5 days a week, and will include alternative weekends.

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen team in delivering high-quality food services. This role involves assisting with meal preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards are upheld. The ideal candidate will have a passion for catering and cooking, with some experience in restaurant or kitchen environments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional setting.

Duties

  • Assist with food preparation and meal assembly, ensuring dishes meet quality standards
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff in daily operations, including ingredient organisation and portioning
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces
  • Help with food safety procedures, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
  • Serve food to customers or guests as required, adhering to hygiene standards
  • Assist in setting up catering events and special functions when needed
  • Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety protocols
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills within the culinary field
  • Basic understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required, including weekends if necessary

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From £12.21 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
