A leading Global Investment Bank is seeking a Head of AI and Automation Transformation Executive Director to spearhead the delivery of AI and automation capabilities across the bank. This role offers you the opportunity to shape and execute strategic initiatives that will enhance customer delivery, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage on an enterprise-wide scale. The ideal candidate will be a strong Transformation & Change expert with AI Implementation experience.

To excel as Head of Artificial Intelligence and Automation Transformation Executive Director, you will bring extensive experience leading transformative programmes powered by advanced technologies within financial services. Your background should include deep knowledge of banking operations alongside an appreciation for regulatory considerations unique to this sector. You possess a thorough understanding of artificial intelligence concepts such as machine learning or NLP without needing direct coding skills-enabling you to communicate effectively with technical experts while focusing on strategic outcomes. Your proven ability in programme management means you can juggle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining clarity around priorities. Stakeholder engagement is second nature; you know how to build consensus among executives as well as operational staff through empathetic communication. Strategic thinking guides your decision-making process but is always balanced by practical delivery tactics aimed at achieving lasting results.

Key experience required:

  • Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale artificial intelligence-enabled transformation programmes within financial services environments over several years.
  • Deep understanding of banking operations including customer delivery models as well as familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing financial institutions.
  • Conversant in artificial intelligence concepts such as machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), automation technologies including generative AI or agentic AI-without requiring hands-on coding expertise.
  • Extensive experience in programme management encompassing oversight of multiple concurrent workstreams within complex organisations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management abilities demonstrated through influencing senior executives as well as engaging operational or technical staff effectively.
  • Strategic thinking combined with a pragmatic approach enables you to balance visionary ideas with practical delivery methods for sustainable change.
  • Excellent communication skills paired with strong facilitation techniques allow you to articulate complex concepts clearly while fostering understanding among diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing high-performing teams including performance reviews, motivation strategies, talent development plans, and retention initiatives.
  • Ability to identify organisational resistance points during periods of change; skilled at developing empathetic approaches for overcoming barriers collaboratively.
  • Experience collaborating with data analytics professionals or innovation teams to shape impactful use cases for artificial intelligence deployment.
