We are building the UK's next generation AI platform, powered by renewable energy, rooted in sovereign capability, and designed to give enterprises and innovators the compute they need.

As Head of Infrastructure, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, deployment, and operation of our high-performance computing (HPC) clusters and the compute, storage, and networking infrastructure that form the backbone of our platform. Your remit spans the entire lifecycle— from initial architectural planning and technical specification to hands-on deployment, integration, and ongoing management.

By ensuring optimal performance, resilience, and scalability of the core infrastructure, you will empower our AI solutions to deliver enterprise-grade results. You will also oversee the transition from project delivery to steady-state operations, guaranteeing that reliability, efficiency, and compliance are built into every layer of the platform from the outset.

Key Responsibilities

Design, architect, and specify technical solutions for high-performance computing (HPC) clusters across a distributed environment, ensuring alignment with 's enterprise-grade customer requirements.

Oversee the complete lifecycle of infrastructure deployment, from initial site assessment and preparation to hands-on build-out, integration, commissioning and operation of compute, storage, and networking environments.

Ensure all infrastructure meets stringent performance, resilience, scalability, and compliance standards, embedding data sovereignty, sustainability, and ESG principles into every project layer.

Lead the transition of new sites from project delivery to steady-state operations, implementing robust procedures and governance to guarantee operational reliability, efficiency, and ongoing compliance.

Work with Platform Engineering, Service Delivery, Procurement and Customer Success teams to ensure customer confidence in the platform and services and to align infrastructure to overall service and organizational objectives

Implement and continuously improve site management and risk mitigation processes, ensuring all projects adhere to timeline, budget, and quality benchmarks.

Deliver detailed progress, performance, and risk reporting to senior leadership, maintaining clear communication and alignment with strategic goals.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 10 years' hands-on experience building and operating high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure.
  • Strong skills in translating strategic infrastructure requirements into actionable site deployment plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Proven leadership in roles such as Infrastructure or Network Manager, with expertise in server and infrastructure provisioning for mission-critical environments.
  • Solid understanding of critical systems (DCIM, power management, environmental controls) and network protocols.
  • Knowledgeable in infrastructure and network security, performance monitoring, analysis tools, and management software.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field—or equivalent experience.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with AI/ML or HPC infrastructure delivery, including GPU-dense or carbon-aware compute environments.
  • Exposure to off-grid, renewable, or hybrid energy systems in datacenter applications.
  • Understanding of ESG requirements in infrastructure development and carbon credit alignment.
