A leading technology consultancy is looking for a Junior to Mid-Level Application Support Engineer to join a growing team delivering critical support to front, middle, and back office users across multiple clients in the commodities and energy trading sector. This is a permanent opportunity with a clear path to career growth and development in a high-performing technical environment.

In this client-facing role, you'll be providing day-to-day application support across major
ETRM systems
(such as Trayport, Allegro, Endur), ensuring fast resolution of incidents, active monitoring, and smooth coordination with infrastructure, DevOps, and service delivery teams.

You'll work closely with client stakeholders—both technical and non-technical—gaining valuable exposure to the
full trade lifecycle
, high-frequency trading environments, and regulated markets. Strong scripting skills in
PowerShell or Python
, as well as comfort working with
SQL databases
, are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide L1–L2 application support to front, middle, and back office teams within commodities and trading environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to ETRM platforms (e.g., Trayport, Endur, Allegro).
  • Manage and monitor system performance and outages across client systems.
  • Work with SQL for querying, investigating data integrity issues, and maintaining schemas/tables.
  • Use
    PowerShell (strongly preferred)
    or Python for scripting automation and support tools.
  • Collaborate with client-side IT, infrastructure, and development teams for issue resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in onboarding of APIs, FIX messaging, and market data feeds.
  • Maintain and contribute to support documentation and change management workflows.


Essential Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with
    PowerShell
    (must-have); Python is also beneficial.
  • Proficiency in
    SQL
    and relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Familiarity with
    Windows and Linux/Unix
    environments.
  • Exposure to ETRM platforms like Trayport, Endur, Allegro, or similar systems.
  • Understanding of
    trade lifecycle
    and financial markets (especially energy or commodities).
  • Experience in a client-facing or consultancy-based role.
  • Knowledge of
    ITIL
    practices and change/release management.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills.

Desirable (Not Mandatory)

  • Experience with
    IBM MQ, ION, ATEO, TT, or Deltix
    platforms.
  • Understanding of regulatory environments, compliance, and risk frameworks.
  • Exposure to FIX protocols and trading APIs.
  • Willingness to occasionally support after-hours upgrades or incident escalations.
