Customer Service & Office Manager (Part-Time)

Chatburn | 3 days per week | 8am–5pm | £14 per hour (can be subject to negotiation DOE)

We're delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Empress Fencing, a fantastic small business in Chatburn who are looking for a Customer Service & Office Manager to become a key part of their close-knit team. This is one of those rare roles where no two days are the same – and the successful candidate will genuinely be lucky to join such a friendly, supportive workplace.

This is a hands-on role, ideal for an experienced and confident administrator who enjoys variety, people, and a bit of responsibility.

The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, ensure exceptional service delivery, and foster a positive environment for both clients and staff. This role requires strong leadership skills, proficiency with office management tools, and the ability to handle complex administrative tasks efficiently. The Customer Service & Office Manager will play a vital part in maintaining our company's reputation for outstanding customer care and operational excellence.

Role expectations:

  • Supervise and manage the customer service and office team to ensure and maintain high service standards
  • Develop and implement customer service policies and procedures
  • Handle escalated customer queries professionally and promptly
  • Oversee day-to-day office operations and support the Admin Manager and Bookkeeper as necessary
  • Prepare work schedules and maintain accurate records and reports
  • Coordinate with other departments to resolve issues efficiently
  • Manage stock ordering and maintain tools and machinery lists
  • Maintain office supplies, equipment, and carry out basic website updates
  • Lead, train and support the office team, including inductions, training and performance reviews
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Maintain excellent phone etiquette and confidently handle customer relations, including counter sales

Who we're looking for:

  • An experienced and competent administrator with office or clerical experience, ideally in a customer service environment
  • Proven supervisory or team management experience
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Confident, friendly and professional communicator, both in person and on the phone
  • Good understanding of people management, including training and development
  • A team player who enjoys working in a small business environment
  • Flexible and willing to cover staff absence when required
