R&D Technician / Engineer

Location: Outskirts of Bristol - North Somerset end

Ideally our client are looking for a graduate, post-apprenticeship, or degree apprentice graduate, with relevant background in science or engineering discipline. Competent with a range of hands-on R&D activities, including basic electronics, soldering, wiring, mechanical assembly, CAD design and 3D printing, use of lab test equipment, planning and conducting experiments, data capture and trials. You must have good communication and technical writing skills for contributing to project meetings and generating reports and presentations.

Our client are looking for a practical, hands-on R&D Technician or Graduate Engineer/Scientist to support the development, testing and demonstration of advanced sensing and prototype systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, assemble and test R&D prototype systems.
  • Carry out basic electronics work including soldering, wiring and board assembly.
  • Use CAD software and 3D printing to produce mechanical components.
  • Operate lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
  • Plan and conduct experiments, capture data and participate in system trials.
  • Record results and contribute to technical reports and presentations.
  • Work closely with engineers and scientists to support project goals.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in engineering or science.

  • Competence with basic electronics and workshop tools.

  • Experience using test and measurement equipment.

  • Familiarity with CAD and 3D printing tools.

  • Strong attention to detail and methodical working habits.

  • Clear communication and technical writing skills.

  • UK national, eligible for security clearance.
