Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Director to coordinate and deliver engaging recreational programmes within a care home environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organising, and overseeing a variety of activities tailored to residents' needs, promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing. Experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or dementia care is highly desirable. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents by fostering a vibrant and inclusive community atmosphere.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive abilities, including those requiring specialised dementia or Alzheimer's care.
- Organise group events, individual activities, outings, and therapeutic sessions that encourage participation and socialisation.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents' interests and capabilities, ensuring activities are personalised and inclusive.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to evaluate programme effectiveness.
- Foster a positive environment that promotes residents' independence, dignity, and emotional wellbeing.
- Coordinate volunteers or external entertainers to enrich activity offerings.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and organisational policies.
Skills
- Proven experience working within assisted living or nursing home environments, particularly with senior care or dementia patients.
- Strong understanding of Alzheimer's and dementia-related needs, including specialised activity planning for individuals with cognitive impairments.
- Excellent communication skills to engage residents effectively and liaise with care teams and families.
- Organisational skills to plan schedules, manage resources, and oversee multiple activities simultaneously.
- Compassionate approach with genuine interest in enhancing the quality of life for older adults.
- Ability to adapt activities to meet individual needs while fostering an inclusive community atmosphere.
- Creativity in developing innovative programmes that stimulate mental, physical, and emotional health.
