Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and preparation, with experience in supervising kitchen staff. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, maintaining high standards of food safety and quality while supporting the Head Chef in daily culinary tasks.

Duties

  • Assist the Head Chef in the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Oversee food production processes, ensuring adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for seasonal dishes.
  • Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies as necessary to maintain stock.
  • Train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, safety protocols, and equipment usage.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant setting.
  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on food preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Supervisory experience is highly desirable, with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional dining experiences.
