The Role: Strategic Category Lead

Are you an expert in construction procurement strategy with a passion for delivering collaborative and best-value outcomes? We are looking for a dynamic Strategic Category Lead to manage and influence all commercial activity within our construction and highways category. This role will ensure the successful delivery of projects by maintaining strong stakeholder and supply chain relationships, while driving efficiency, compliance, and sustainability.

We are particularlyinterested in hearing from individuals with extensive experience sourcing forcomplex construction projects and deep knowledge of administering both JCT andNEC contracts.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Development and implementation of sourcing strategies for specific construction projects with forward-thinking approaches for continuous improvement which maximise value, minimise risk and ensure policy compliance
  • Developing business cases with key stakeholders to present at Commercial Board, chaired by the Chief Executive
  • Managing complex procurement projects and frameworks within public sector regulations
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to nurture relationships, ensuring ongoing engagement and performance improvements which align with strategic objectives
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation and sustainable procurement practices
  • Managing a team of Category Managers and Officers
