We currently have an opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. A Food Hygiene qualification would be an advantage but is not essential as all training will be provided.

Shifts are 11 hours with a 1 hour unpaid break, therefore 10 hours paid. An average of 25 hours per week as follows:

  • Week 1 - 2 x 11 hour shifts (8am to 7pm)
  • Week 2 - 3 x 11 hour shifts (8am to 7pm)

What you can expect your duties to include (this list is an example and is not an exhaustive list):

  • To assist with preparation and serving of food as required (only when a relevant food hygiene qualification is achieved).
  • Collect meal trays once the service user has finished meal, wash trays after each meal.
  • General washing up.
  • To maintain daily cleaning of the kitchen as per cleaning rota including kitchen sinks, work surfaces, cooker top.
  • To ensure that the kitchen floor is kept clean, free from grease and other spillages.
  • Empty bins as necessary during the day and at end of shift.
  • To prepare the dining room for meals and ensure the area is cleared and left clean and tidy following each meal.
  • To serve tea/coffee to service users at 11am and 3pm and to ensure residents have clean water jugs and drinking glasses in their rooms or beside them
