Area Specification Sales Manager

Join VELUX Commercial as an Area Specification Sales Manager and help us make daylight an essential part of architecture across the UK and Ireland.
Your challenges
As our Area Specification Sales Manager, you'll report to the National Sales Manager, UK & Ireland, and become part of a high-performing team dedicated to growing the VELUX Commercial brand in the specification market.
You'll work closely with architects, specifiers, and contractors — building meaningful relationships and uncovering opportunities.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Maximise sales probability via strong focus on securing specification & demand creation.
- Secure and win business for VELUX Commercial by developing VC specified projects or conversion.
- Maintain CRM records for Area contacts and projects.
- Develop and implement strong closing techniques to secure specification by influencing Specifiers and Architects.
- Cover the buying center with robust stakeholder engagement
- Raise VC full product portfolio awareness through delivering company presentations and CPDs.
- Develop key relationships with all customers with a primary focus on Specifiers, Architects & design department within larger regional and national contractors.
- Build effective working relationships with relevant trade, industry and regulatory bodies.
- Strong focus on building pipelines and project conversion
- Conduct site visits and surveys (Working at height)
- Maintain high relevancy for VC within the commercial market.
- Establish VC products as a clear choice in both market share and market opinion.
- Work both individually and with colleagues to achieve company strategy objectives, targets and goals.
- Monitor market potential and share sales leads with relevant colleagues.
- Carry out any other tasks as may be reasonably requested in relation to your role
Your Qualifications
You're a natural relationship-builder with a technical mindset and a passion for creating impact through design and construction. You combine curiosity with commercial focus and have a drive to see projects through from concept to completion.
We imagine that you bring:
- Strong technical and commercial background with direct project sales experience.
- Proven ability to manage the full sales process end-to-end
- Experience working with architectural and construction drawings.
- A track record of success in territory sales or specification-driven roles.
- Excellent presentation and networking skills with the confidence to engage at all levels.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
- High level of organisation and planning — focusing on the right priorities at the right time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (e.g. Glenigan or similar).
- A full UK driving licence and valid passport.
It's a plus if you:
- Have knowledge of building regulations.
- Experience in roof construction, facades, or glazing systems.
- Are an experienced negotiator with a consultative sales approach.
This role involves occasional overnight travel (approx. 4–5 nights per month) and working at heights (training provided).
