Sellick Partnership is seeking a Deputy Head of Financial Planning and Analysis for one of our Public Sector clients based in Birmingham.

Key Accountabilities: Deputy Head of Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Prepare and deliver monthly Management Accounts
  • Responsible for Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Analysing financial data and generating detailed reports
  • Presenting financial data to senior stakeholders

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Deputy Head of Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Delivering the month-end closedown process, ensuring deadlines are met and issues are resolved promptly
  • Preparing and presenting monthly management accounts to the Executive Team
  • Producing monthly income and expenditure variance analysis for management review
  • Supporting the external audit process, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
  • Leading the annual budget-setting process (c.£335m income) and five-year forecast, including reporting to the Finance Committee and Board of Governors
  • Developing and maintaining the five-year forecast model, incorporating balance sheet and cash flow forecasts
  • Reviewing and improving income forecasting (c.£260m), ensuring accuracy

Person specification: Deputy Head of Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA)
  • Ability to communicate detailed financial information clearly and present this straightforwardly to non-financial specialists
  • Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel skills and knowledge of finance/accounting systems such as Oracle and/other corporate information systems
