Senior Planning Engineer

Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner to join our dynamic team in the North East of England. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project planning, particularly within the Infrastructure sector and be proficient in Primavera software. You will play a critical role in ensuring the successful planning and execution of projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and deadlines.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Planning: Overseeing the planning stages of a project, including defining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements
- Scheduling: Creating project schedules using project management software (Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project) and identifying critical paths.
- Monitoring: Keeping track of project progress and updating schedules as needed
- Communicating: Keeping stakeholders informed and ensuring projects stay on track
- Managing: Support the Project Manager in Managing budgets, resources, stakeholders, and risks
- Creating reports: Producing reports for project managers
- Risk management: Identifying and mitigating risks that could delay deliverables, increase costs, or cause scope creep
Key Tasks
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans using Primavera and MS Project, including schedules, resource allocation, and budget management.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress, development of S-Curves, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication between teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Assist in the identification and procurement of necessary resources for project execution.
Key Measurables
- Demonstration of understanding of the project.
- Timely return of project schedule/programme requirements
- Proactive monitoring of project progress and development of reports/updates.
- Maintain consistent and clear communication with the project manager.
- Identify potential project efficiencies relating to cost, schedule or resource management.
- Development of action plans to correct any project deviations in collaboration with the project manager.
- Regular updating of key stakeholders.

Education and Qualifications Specific to Role
Essential Qualifications
- Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Must be capable of producing project plans from design and commercial information.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Time management essential to satisfy demands of busy schedule.
Desirable Qualifications or Equivalent Experience
- Relevant degree or certification in Project Planning / Management or related field is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
