Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and reliable General Assistant to support our bar and restaurant team. This role involves both food service and bar service delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, possess good organisational skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the hospitality sector.

Duties

  • Serve customers efficiently and courteously in the restaurant, or bar
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all activities
  • Support kitchen staff with desserts, stock control and cleaning
  • Manage time effectively to ensure orders are served promptly
  • Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities
  • Keep the work area clean, organised, and compliant with health regulations
  • Assist in restocking supplies and cleaning utensils and equipment after service
  • Provide friendly assistance to customers, addressing their needs and queries

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices preferre, but full training given.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely service during busy periods
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different responsibilities within the bar and restaurant setting

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract

Pay: From £12.75 per hour
