About The Role
What you'll do:

  • Champion a strong BTFL culture that embeds EHS and Wellbeing principles, driving engagement through the culture group and balanced scorecard.
  • Provide expert EHS and risk support to the account team, client, supply chain, and volunteers—advising on all safety and wellbeing matters.
  • Lead incident management: ensure timely reporting, investigation, corrective actions, and learning from EHS events.
  • Stay ahead of legislative changes, updating policies and processes to maintain compliance with EMCOR UK's Legal Register.
  • Escalate unmanaged risks, contribute to the risk register, and flag gaps in existing safety policies.
  • Guide line management on environmental aspects, sustainability goals, and the Aspect & Impacts register.
  • Support audits—internal, external, and client-led—ensuring corrective actions are closed out on time.
  • Build trusted relationships across teams to deliver collaborative, accountable EHS performance.
  • Drive effective communication through meetings, briefings, reports, and publications.
  • Promote occupational health initiatives and work with HR to support employees with health conditions and adjustments.
  • Manage submissions for RoSPA, British Safety Council, and environmental awards.
  • Review and improve HSWE policies, risk assessments, method statements, and permits to work.
  • Deliver EHS training to maintain competence across all stakeholders.
  • Support assurance activities (Level 1–3) aligned with the SQR framework.
  • Collaborate with SQR and HSW Business Partners to uphold EMCOR UK's EHS standards.
  • Attend CoP and peer groups to shape health, safety, wellbeing, and environmental initiatives.
  • Oversee statutory interactions, ensuring full compliance with HSE and other regulatory bodies.
  • Support ISO standards (9001, 45001, through audit readiness and site-based compliance
  • Advise on project safety, CDM, and EHS for minor and capital works.

Who You'll Be

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
  • IEMA or similar in environmental awareness.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (member of IOSH).
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a health and safety related role.
  • Previous experience of working in a regulated environment.
  • Auditor trained or auditing experience.
  • Experience of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 and 45003 standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of safety and risk management.
  • An understanding of CDM2015 and BS 5975 Temporary Works Standard.
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems, procedural technical and HSE compliance.
  • Understanding of EHS legislation.
  • Good IT skills.
