Head of Operations - Fabrication and Welding

An opportunity to join in a senior role due to the retirement of a long serving member of staff. This long-established, over 45yrs, tank manufacturing company is well known in the industry for quality tank manufacturing.

Responsibilities - To include but not limited to:

  • To provide clear leadership and vision, to inspire and motivate all to ensure our manufacturing strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of quality, cost and delivery targets.
  • Commercial awareness and thorough understanding of the competitive environment based on labour, material and set margin conversations.
  • To drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing related areas of the business.
  • Develop and manage a master production schedule to ensure operational capacity is planned to ensure product(s) are delivered to agreed quality at agreed cost and on time.
  • Plan and execute planned preventive maintenance to ensure plant and equipment is always safe and complaint.
  • Ensure Health and safety, Environmental, Manufacturing and product quality minimum standards are achieved or exceeded at all times.
  • Ensure the site and site procedures, always ensures the safety and wellbeing of staff and any visitors.
  • Complete regular performance reviews, manage and monitor attendance, holidays and any disciplinary issues.
  • Proactively work with all staff to incorporate best practice into the manufacturing environment.

Skills, experience and attributes:

  • You will have significant experience in a senior management role in a sheet / plate / welding operation.
  • Proven leadership and management skills in a previous manufacturing function and the proven ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong and confident negotiator, at all levels, within the business and with 3rd parties.
  • Demonstrable ability to add valve, reduce costs and build quality into the business.
  • Technical mindset with knowledge of manufacturing techniques and national product standards.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £43,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
