As we develop an enterprise-wide data and digital strategy that moves us toward greater focus on the use of data and strengthen our digital and AI capabilities, we are seeking a Lead AI Engineer.  In this role, you will manage a portfolio of Data Science and AI technical capabilities, projects and products that seek to yield a significant business benefit, build our industry advantage and help differentiate in the market through execution on innovation.

What you'll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Design, build and deliver scalable AI capabilities to drive the solutions which will enable functions across the insurance value chain such as underwriting, pricing, claims, distribution, operations etc.
  • Spearhead the development of innovative solution POC with a keen emphasis on leveraging GenAI technologies.
  • Develop, grow and mentor a team of data scientists and machine learning developers in the end-to-end development of AI solutions, from conceptualization and prototyping to deployment and continuous optimization
  • Bridge the cutting-edge AI technologies and commonality of business objectives across AXA XL's business lines, driving impactful, AI-enabled scalable, reusable technical capabilities.
  • Partner with key areas within AI Platforms, Pricing & Underwriting, Transformation & Change Delivery, Group and other teams to make scalable solutions available for projects
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in the Data Science and AI space through use of best practice tools and techniques.

You will report to the Division Lead, Data Science and AI Excellence.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Hands-on knowledge and experience in the full life cycle of AI technical capability development, from ideation and data exploration to model training, selection, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Experience in leveraging GenAI to develop and expand the AI product portfolio
  • Drive best practices in AI and data science, ensuring a high level of technical rigor, reproducibility, and ethical standards.
  • Deep understanding and experience of managing AI productionalization journey through best practices in ML Ops, LLMOps, Micro-service, Containerization and Cloud Engineering disciplines
  • Requires a combination of solid execution, strategic thinking and ability to 'connect the dots'
  • A minimum of a bachelor or master's degree in a relevant discipline
  • Extensive experience in a Data Science, AI or related roles (Science, Statistics or Engineering) supporting multiple specialty areas of Digital, Data and Analytics
  • Moderate leadership experience, leading programs or team members
  • Passion for digital, data and AI and experience working within a digital and data driven organization

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $170,500 to $215,000 USD. 

Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues' pay.
