University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

We are looking for an experienced nurse in Colorectal cancer and or Oncology nursing, to join our Colorectal cancer nurse specialist team.

The GI Nursing team at UHS is a progressive, experienced and highly skilled team of cancer clinical nurse specialists. The team are at the forefront of nursing service development and nursing research initiatives both locally and nationally, and has a fantastic pedigree which we are proud of as an organisation.

We offer a supportive and dynamic environment in which you can flourish, and you will be working with nurses who are passionate and proud of both the quality of the care and the level of compassion they deliver.

University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities to support your career aspirations.

Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalizing your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

At UHS we're committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients. At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognizing that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team. We're committed to creating an anti-racist, anti-discriminatory environment where everyone feels valued, safe, and empowered to make a meaningful impact in our communities. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to join us in building a healthcare community where everyone can belong, thrive, and contribute.

To provide support and care to patients with colorectal cancer and their families. Acting as the key worker and bridging the transition of care between speciality teams.

You will be a good team player, but also be willing and able to work autonomously. You will possess excellent communication skills and be able to work in a multidisciplinary setting. The role is emotionally demanding, so experience of working with patients with cancer is essential.

Assist and ensure treatment is delivered in appropriate time frames, in accordance with the national cancer guidelines.

Work collaboratively with all members of the MDT at UHS and in referring centres to ensure all patients receive the highest level of specialist care and support.

Clinically, the successful applicant will support the MDT to deliver high-quality, holistic care for all patients with proven and suspected colorectal cancer, from diagnosis to discharge. We need someone who is capable of using their skills and knowledge across the sub-specialities that make up the team.

We are looking for an individual who will intrinsically live the organisational values and will foster a culture of learning, development and excellence in nursing care delivery for patients and deliver stratified approaches to care for patients with Colorectal Cancers.

We want to find a well-motivated nurse to support and become part of an experienced and highly respected team, ensure excellence in person-centred care and support the expert speciality teams to deliver the quality of service which we all strive to achieve in all we do.

This is an exciting and innovative role which will offer the post holder the opportunity for both personal and professional development and involvement in a number of projects which are shaping models of specialist service delivery for the future.
