We're thrilled to offer a new opportunity to join On Hire as a Desktop Motor Engineer. You will be responsible for ensuring motor repair and total loss claims are assessed accurately, fairly, and efficiently. This role also safeguards repair quality, cost control, and compliance by reviewing estimates, valuations, and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for validating invoices and repair estimates to ensure costs are accurate and repairs comply with Thatcham or manufacturer standards.
  • Assess repair estimate from network and non-network garages, challenging unnecessary costs and approving repairs within SLA requirements.
  • Use tools such as Glass's MVA, Percayso, and vehicle history checks (HPI, MIAFTR) to assess total loss claims, considering mileage, condition, and prior damage.
  • Negotiate with repair networks, suppliers, and salvage agents to secure fair repair costs and total loss settlements, ensuring correct salvage categorisation per ABI Code of Conduct.
  • To liaise with the On Hire repair networks & build relationships to be able to deal with the day to day running of repair cases.
  • To audit performance and quality engineer reports and authorities. .

About You

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in motor claims, engineering, or insurance assessment.
  • Familiarity with vehicle history checks (HPI, MIAFTR) and damage appraisal.
  • Understanding of repair network operations and salvage management.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle repair processes, Thatcham methods, and manufacturer standards.
  • Knowledge of total loss processes, salvage categories, and the ABI Code of Conduct.
  • Experience using industry valuation tools (e.g. Glass's, Percayso)
  • ATA VDA certification is essential.
  • AQP qualification ID essential.

Working Hours

This role is Full Time based on 40 Hours per week, working either hybrid, remote or office based.
