Purpose of the Job
The Senior Solutions Developer role operates within the Data department; an area of the business which is responsible for the innovation, implementation, ongoing optimization and maintenance of marketing technology solutions, that our Data and Insights team deliver to clients.

Key to success is delivering working software inclusive of scoping, design, development, testing, deployment, support and documentation activities.

You will report into the Development Director from a functional perspective however day-to-day you'll work as part of a multi-disciplined client team, supporting one or more client solutions, working alongside others such as Development, Digital, Planning, Analysis and Commercial.

This role is based on a Hybrid basis from our office in Cirencester.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and deliver solutions inclusive of scoping, design, development, testing, deployment, support and documentation activities
• Format, process and transform client supplied data files for load to their hosted database solution
• Translate defined processing rules into efficient program code using SQL within the cloud-based Snowflake environment (primarily) and also work with MS SQL Server and other SQL compliant databases
• Support the set-up and execution of digital marketing activities via the use and integration with third party martech / marketing technology platforms providing campaign automation, multi-channel execution and MI / BI reporting capabilities (Apteco / Adestra / Alterian)
• Support the production of counts, extracts and reports from data files and client solutions (SQL / Power BI / Qlik)
• Provide ongoing upgrades, maintenance and optimization to the solutions we've built for our clients including any internal systems that power the work we do day-to-day
• Identify issues and solutions, working through processes step by step to highlight where errors have occurred
• Clear electronic and verbal communication of technical issues / solutions with internal stakeholders, clients and suppliers
• Making decisions regarding most appropriate method and tools to carry out a job, project, or solution change (AWS / Python / API knowledge)
• Provide ongoing quality assurance working with others across a number of disciplines such as unit, component integration, system, regression, user acceptance and post deployment testing
• Build positive relationships working alongside and in collaboration with other functions and client teams
• Work as part of a multi skilled, multi-disciplined client facing team assisting commercial services, planning, analysis, and day-to-day operations
• Proactively communicate within the team and with the client regarding progress, risks, issues, considerations, and technical solutions available to ongoing requirements or challenges
• Support and mentor junior members of the team whilst also contributing to our ways of working, embracing, and endorsing continuous improvement

Knowledge, Skills + Experience

• Commercial experience developing and working with databases or marketing automation tools, preferably in a data marketing environment at a high level of competency
• Experience with the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, development, testing, deployment, support and documentation activities
• Experience working across technical stacks contributing to infrastructure, application and database development

• Previous experience with the following:

• Snowflake (or other strong SQL experience)

• Python and / or Perl
• Knowledge of cloud environments preferably AWS (Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform considered)
• Cloud database and ETL / ELT solutions e.g. Snowflake, Matillion, Redshift

• Business Intelligence tools preferably Power BI (Qlik, Tableau considered)

• Experience with version and build control and/or continuous integration, inclusive of associated tools used to manage this

• Experience working with customer data platforms or single customer views, inclusive of cleansing, matching, deduplication, PAF, suppressions and 3rd party enhancement / data appends
• Passion for Data, Marketing Technology and Solutions Development
• Proactive in finding solutions to problems you haven't seen before
• Ability to take a step back and see the big picture, breaking down tasks into simpler forms where necessary
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with proven multi-tasking skills
• Team player who thrives working with others but can also work alone when required

• Previous use of Name + Address processing software e.g. Capscan, Verify or QAS
• Marketing Automation tools e.g. Apteco FastStats and PeopleStage, Alterian, Acoustic, Salesforce Marketing Cloud
• Email broadcast tools e.g. Upland Adestra, MAPP, Pure360
• Computer or marketing related degree
• Experience working within a marketing agency
