Overview

This is a 3-month hybrid agency contract for a Children's Senior Practitioner to cover a vacant post at Shropshire Council (Inside IR35) for up to £33.30 per hour.

The role focuses on specialist casework with UASC and 16+ young people in the West Midlands/Shropshire, requiring strong assessment, CSE knowledge, and conflict resolution skills for working with traumatized youth. You'll work 4 days from home and 1 day in the office (The Shirehall).

Key Duties

  • Manage a specialist caseload of Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) in the West Midlands and 16+ pathway young people in Shropshire.
  • Conduct high-quality, analytical assessments and complete recording within tight timescales.
  • Perform Return Home Interviews.
  • Work collaboratively with vulnerable, traumatized, and dysregulated teenagers, utilizing strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Prioritize and prepare for regular professional supervision.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a qualified Social Worker/Senior Practitioner.
  • Expertise in working with trauma and complex needs in teenagers.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills relating to Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).
  • Excellent ability to build trusting, positive relationships with young people.
  • Must complete the DFE Cover Sheet; previously unsuccessful candidates will be rejected.

Pay: Up to £33.30 per hour
