About Us

Established in 2008, Mayfly Internet Marketing is a full-service digital marketing agency offering web design, SEO, PPC, and social media management to clients across the UK and worldwide.

We're a small, close-knit team with a strong collaborative culture and a passion for driving measurable results. We work with a wide range of clients—from local service providers to national brands—delivering SEO and content strategies that make a tangible difference to their growth. We manage a mixture of ecommerce & lead generation campaigns and are largely responsible for driving growth for our clients.

About the Role

As our SEO Lead, you'll take ownership of key clients within Mayfly's SEO portfolio, managing strategy, performance, and delivery across a wide range of client accounts.

We're looking for someone who can deliver on client strategy and manage ongoing SEO projects whilst innovating our SEO offering, improving internal processes, and keeping Mayfly ahead of industry trends.

You'll have access to a small team of copywriters, and collaborate closely with our SEO Executive, developer and design partners. You'll also play a key role in shaping how we pitch, plan, and deliver SEO work in the months and years ahead.

Responsibilities
1. Account Strategy & Management
  • Develop and implement SEO strategies for key clients (2-5 days per month each).
  • Manage monthly reporting, KPI tracking, and strategy refinement for all accounts.
  • Oversee progress on smaller accounts, ensuring that all projects are on track and that monthly reports reflect measurable improvements.
  • Scope and contribute to new business opportunities, including initial audits and top-level strategy outlines for proposals and pitches.
2. Team Leadership & Resource Management
  • Oversee project management and priorities for key SEO projects.
  • Provide mentorship and quality assurance for content and technical SEO output.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and standards remain consistently high across projects.
  • Support the development of team knowledge through training, documentation, and shared best practices.
3. SEO Execution & Innovation
  • Lead advanced SEO strategy, including technical audits, content optimisation, and structured data implementation.
  • Conduct keyword, intent, and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities.
  • Drive innovation across our SEO service offering—testing new tools, automation, and methods to improve efficiency and results.
  • Monitor Google algorithm changes and emerging trends, adjusting client strategies accordingly.
  • Proactively identify and implement internal process improvements to streamline delivery and reporting.
4. Client Relationship Management
  • Act as the main SEO point of contact for key clients, delivering confident, data-backed recommendations.
  • Communicate results clearly through monthly reports and presentations.
  • Ensure consistent delivery quality and a strategic, long-term approach to each client partnership.
About You

You're an experienced SEO professional ready to take ownership of a full client portfolio and innovation within the SEO team. You're equally comfortable deep in technical SEO as you are presenting strategy to clients or mentoring team members.

You're passionate about innovation and experimentation within the SEO space, and you thrive on staying one step ahead of Google's updates, AI-driven search changes, and evolving user behaviour.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • 3–5 years' experience in SEO, with proven results managing multiple accounts.
  • Deep understanding of technical, on-page, and off-page SEO.
  • Confident in using SEO tools (SEMRush, Screaming Frog, GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and CMS platforms such as WordPress.
  • Skilled in client communication and account management.
  • Excellent organisational and reporting skills
  • Agency experience managing multiple client workloads.

Preferred:

  • Strong copywriting or content strategy experience.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior team members
  • Experience scoping or supporting pitches.
  • Familiarity using AI-driven SEO tools, and automation platforms.
What Success Looks Like
  • Client accounts show measurable SEO growth and consistent performance.
  • The SEO team operates efficiently with clear processes and high-quality output.
  • Internal processes and reporting are streamlined and data-driven.
  • Mayfly's SEO offering evolves to stay ahead of industry change.

Client satisfaction, retention, and new business conversion rates improve.

If you're an ambitious SEO professional looking to take ownership of a growing portfolio and lead innovation in a forward-thinking agency, we'd love to hear from you.
