The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and caring Childcare Assistant to join our team on a maternity cover basis, with the potential for ongoing employment beyond the contract. The role is 30-40 hours per week, working either Monday to Thursday, 7:30am – 5:30pm or Tuesday - Thursday You will play a key part in supporting children's daily routines, learning, and development, while ensuring their wellbeing and safety at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and support for children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Assist in planning and delivering engaging activities to support learning and development.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for children.
- Support children's personal, social, and emotional development, helping them grow in confidence and independence.
- Work closely with colleagues and parents to ensure excellent communication and continuity of care.
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and setting policies and procedures at all times.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience working with young children in a childcare or nursery setting.
- A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Up-to-date DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Valid Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to update prior to starting).
Desirable:
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (or working towards).
- Knowledge of EYFS framework.
