The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to deliver the objectives set out within Tameside's Carers Strategy and lead the Carers team to support Tameside's unpaid carer's offer.

The post is a Team Manager post that will manage a team of Health and Wellbeing Advisors and an Events Coordinator for carers work within Adult Services Integrated Care and support to manage and lead on work to develop the unpaid carers offer in line with the Social Care Reform White Paper and the Care Act 2014.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to play a key role in developing the unpaid carers agenda locally.

High level objectives set out within the White Paper are:

  • To kick-start changes in services provided for unpaid carers.

  • Improving information and advice that is accessible and supports choice and control.

  • Identification, recognition and involvement of unpaid carers in informing service design and improvement.
  • Empowering unpaid carers to have more fulfilling lives and to reduce loneliness.
  • Supporting the social and economic participation of carers through employment flexibility and rights, to reduce the impact of caring on carer's employment.

This post will require a range of skills focused on engaging and working with local partner organisations including engagement with carers to support the development and implementation of the local carer's offer. This will include ensuring that information and advice is accessible, and that we fully engage carers in informing service developments.

About You

The successful applicant will report to the Service Unit Manager with responsibility for carers but will also need to have the skills and confidence to work with a range of different senior officers, managers and practitioners to help instigate change. The post will involve attending Tameside and Greater Manchester working groups and Boards to report on progress and contribute to wider development and positive change in this area. This will be essential for learning and sharing information as part of the wider development of carer's services.

It is essential that the applicant has good interpersonal skills to assist in effective communication to aid relationship building to help instigate change and improvement. The applicant should have good organisational and project management skills in terms of managing a diverse range of competing priorities across a number of different project plans. This is priority work and it is essential that set deadlines are met and progress is measured and achieved.

You will receive regular supervision, support and training to ensure your continuous professional and personal development. You will be part of a wider team including partner organisations to ensure delivery of the transformation in this area.

Experience of successfully working on projects and managing plan implementation is essential.

Experience and knowledge of working with carers is essential.

It is essential that you hold a current valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work use.
