We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Wakefield, working as a Learning Support Worker. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Wakefield is a Category A high-security prison for adult men, located in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Established in 1594 as a house of correction, it is one of the oldest operating prisons in England and Wales. The site forms part of the long-term high-security estate and houses individuals convicted of serious offences. It has a capacity of around 750 prisoners, with a current population of approximately 630, including about 148 Category A inmates.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Hidden Difficulties Level 2 or equivalent (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
  • To hold Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe
  • Achievement of performance targets
  • Accurate and timely reporting
  • Positive team working
