Are you passionate about creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where students thrive? We are looking for a Deputy Duty Principal to join our dynamic Student Wellbeing and Engagement team at Peterborough College, part of the Inspire Education Group (IEG).

In this pivotal role, you'll help lead on student behaviour, wellbeing and engagement across campus, working closely with the Duty Principal and Head of Student Wellbeing and Engagement. You'll be an influential presence, supporting students and staff in managing incidents, promoting positive behaviour, and ensuring that our college remains a supportive place for all.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing a visible presence around campus, responding to incidents and ensuring a safe environment
  • Using trauma-informed, restorative, and de-escalation techniques to manage student behaviour
  • Supporting and facilitating disciplinary hearings, mediations, and conflict resolution
  • Liaising with parents, social workers, and external agencies such as Youth Services, Police, and Probation
  • Working with cross-college staff to support vulnerable learners, including those in care, young carers and those with SEND
  • Leading and supporting initiatives around equality, diversity, personal safety, and wellbeing
  • Acting as a Designated Safeguarding Person, contributing to safeguarding meetings and interventions
  • Managing and documenting incidents, risk assessments, and interventions
  • Supporting staff training in behaviour management and incident response

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who is calm under pressure, a natural communicator, and a strong team player with experience in managing student behaviour and wellbeing. You'll need:

Essential:

  • A Level 4 qualification or relevant experience
  • English & Maths (Level 2)
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people or adults
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and trauma-informed practice
  • Proven ability to manage conflict, incidents and risk
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Confident working with multi-agency teams and parents/carers

Desirable:

  • DSL or Level 2 Safeguarding training
  • First Aid at Work certification (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Knowledge of restorative justice or experience leading behaviour interventions
