Junior CAD technician

We are recruiting for a CAD technician to join our specialist and busy construction firm.

You do not need to have extensive experience or formal qualifications – this is an excellent chance for somebody with some experience to expand their skills and knowledge whilst working alongside industry experts. There is also an opportunity for career progression as our technical department expands along with our growing business.

Jones Weatherproofing has been providing weatherproofing and vertical penetration services since 1979. As a specialist provider, we take pride in offering flexible solutions for the construction industry, and we have worked on a wide range of prestigious projects across the UK and overseas.

Duties and responsibilities

As a CAD technician, you will work within our team to produce CAD drawings for roof weatherproofing and cladding penetrations. These will be used for purposes including specification, estimating, production and site installation.

Typical projects range from sports stadia, airports, shopping centres, schools, prisons, warehouses and data centres, through to small commercial and domestic applications.

Other tasks may include:

· Updating internal documentation and systems

· Liaising with clients as well as production and installation teams

· Occasional site visits to coordinate with on-site team

· Assist in research and development into new methods and products

· Provide technical advice to customers

· Design and development of construction details using AutoCAD

· Work closely with architects

· Support team members from design to delivery

· Interpretation of drawings and production of specification for business needs.

Skills required

· Competent IT skills

· Good communication

· Excellent team worker

· Highly motivated proactive approach

· Ability to work on own initiative

· AUTOCAD Experience

Qualifications

· Ideally, someone with previous experience in the production of CAD drawings within the construction sector

· Formal education in a technical subject (such as mechanical engineering, product design, civil and structural engineering, or architecture) is beneficial but not essential.

The successful candidate will also need to be ambitious and self-motivated, with the drive to improve and learn new skills. You must be able to meet project deadlines and be willing to leave your comfort zone to take on complex challenges.

Location: The role is based at the Jones Weatherproofing office in Bloxwich, Walsall.

Hours: 40 hours per week - 08:30-16:30 Monday to Friday.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to £30,000.00 per year
