The Role
We are seeking an ambitious, motivated, and proactive Deputy Manager to support the Teams Manager and Registered Manager in ensuring the highest standards of care. This role is essential in shaping the present and future of our organisation and plays a vital part in the strategic planning, coordination, and risk assessment of daily activities across our placements.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have experience within supported accommodation or children's residential homes and be confident in leading teams effectively. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and maintaining high-quality care.
- Providing guidance and motivation to young people and staff.
- Managing staff rotas alongside the HR Assistant when needed.
- Implementing and enforcing placement rules and support plans.
- Monitoring staff adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Managing petty cash and placement expenses responsibly.
- Conducting regular staff supervisions to maintain professional development.
- Overseeing daily operations and managing incidents effectively.
- Sharing on-call duties with the Teams Manager on alternate weeks.
- Proofreading and reviewing weekly reports for accuracy.
- Preparing summary reports for each young person and submitting them to their social worker or PA.
- Attending key meetings, including LAC reviews, strategy meetings, and placement discussions.
- Carrying out any additional duties assigned by the Teams Manager.
Person Specification
We value candidates who are compassionate, patient, and level-headed, while also demonstrating strong leadership and management abilities. The ideal candidate should have the confidence to challenge and upskill staff professionally.
Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Proven experience in supported accommodation or children's residential care.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confidence in decision-making and incident management.
- Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
- Ability to proactively resolve challenges and implement solutions.
- Strong risk assessment, planning, and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
Desirable:
- Experience as a Deputy Manager working towards a Level 5 qualification.
- A desire to progress into a Registered Manager role.
Education & Other Requirements
- Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Level 5 (or equivalent management qualification), or the ability to achieve this within 12 months with support given.
- Full, clean UK driving licence – must be a car owner with the ability to drive both personal and company vehicles.
- Ability to work in compliance with relevant legislation, company policies, and safeguarding guidelines.
