Insurance companies are one of the largest client segments at Oaktree, diversified across region and liability type. Representing over $30 billion in AUM across more than 120 relationships as of March 2025. The Insurance Solutions team at Oaktree is responsible for partnering with the business development and investment teams to deepen engagement with insurance clients, develop new products and solutions, and structure and customize strategies for effective balance sheet outcomes.

Responsibilities
The Vice President, Insurance Solutions will be responsible for engaging with and developing solutions for insurance companies predominantly in Europe and in the UK, with the ultimate goal of growing our insurance client base and insurance related assets under management.
- Work closely with the Head of EMEA Insurance Solutions to develop and implement the growth strategy for the insurance channel through internal stakeholder education, client engagement, and the development of new products, solutions, and structures for insurance companies.
- Fully support fundraising initiatives by (i) partnering with our Business Development and Portfolio Management teams on Insurance LP solutions, (ii) building relationships with our Business Development colleagues and helping drive follow-up where relevant and appropriate, (iii) understanding/gathering intel on the market reaction to our product set and refining messaging in response, (iv) creating and maintaining talking points about our insurance dedicated offerings, including case studies used in marketing materials, (v) supporting and/or conducting Marketing rep and other key stakeholder education in and out of a fundraising campaign, (vi) meeting with selective prospective clients and consultants to explain our various solutions, and (vii) attend insurance industry conferences and events.
- Monitor and communicate regulatory developments in Europe and in the UK regarding investments made by insurers.
- Serve as subject matter expert on relevant rating agency methodologies, regulatory capital charges and calculations (e.g. Solvency II, Solvency UK, Matching Adjustment), statutory reporting and other regulatory developments.
- Assist in preparation of internal and external materials for key stakeholders and clients.
- Help create and distribute though leadership ("Insights") pieces related to the insurance market.
- Quarterback technical insurance client due diligence requests through resolution, serving as a liaison between insurance clients, Business Development, Portfolio Managers, Product Specialists, Legal, Accounting, and Diligence Services.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Portfolio Management to identify/drive potential improvements in insurance LP and Consultant reporting.
Qualifications
- Possess a strong understanding of insurance investor interests, risk appetite, liquidity needs, regulatory and rating agency capital models, and be able to translate that insight into investment solutions for Insurance LPs.
- Deep knowledge and experience with ALM, regulatory and accounting frameworks, and capital calculations for insurance companies based in the UK and in Europe.
- Successful experience in all phases of delivering investment solutions with the objective of improving capital outcomes for insurance companies (this includes designing bespoke investment guidelines and bespoke structures).
- Insurance portfolio construction experience regarding optimizing various strategies or portfolios within a regulatory, rating agency, and balance sheet framework.
- 7+ years of relevant experience at an Insurance Company, Rating Agency, Investment Bank and/or Insurance Solutions Group within an Asset Management Firm.
- Fundamental understanding of the private and public asset classes managed by Oaktree, including Private Debt, Opportunistic Credit, Real Estate Debt and Equity, Asset-Backed Finance, Structured Credit, High Yield, Leveraged Loans, Convertibles and others.
- Ability to interact directly with clients and service providers.
- Superior communication/presentation skills (both written and verbal) with an aptitude for explaining technical concepts clearly and simply to key internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly resourceful with the ability to exercise superior judgement regarding investor requests.
- Ability to acquire thorough knowledge of the legal, accounting, compliance, and investment aspects of Oaktree's investment products.

Education
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree, actuarial qualifications, CFA preferred.
