Job Overview

Welcome to Fosse Children's Services We're seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to join our vibrant residential children's home. In this role, you'll help create a safe, nurturing space for young people to thrive while empowering our team to deliver exceptional care. Working closely with our Registered Manager—and stepping in as their right hand when needed—you'll ensure high standards in care, safeguarding, and compliance. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Oversee staff and lead shifts, ensuring consistent and effective care
  • Safeguarding: Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead in the Registered Manager's absence, ensuring child safety and well-being.
  • Operations Management: Maintain high standards of care and regulatory compliance
  • Staff Development: Mentor and support staff, including in induction, care planning, and professional growth.
  • Placement & Documentation: Assist with placement planning, safeguarding, and reporting, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Relationship Building: Develop supportive relationships with young people, fostering their identity and emotional growth.
  • Well-being & Inclusion: Encourage positive behaviours and healthful activities for young people's social and emotional development.
  • Family & Community Support: Facilitate family interactions and coordinate with other agencies for holistic care.
  • Household Responsibilities: Participate in daily tasks and enforce health, safety, and fire protocols.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct audits and assessments to maintain and improve care standards.
  • On-Call: Take part in the on-call rota as needed.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Working with Children & Young People, GCSE (or equivalent) in English/Math, strong IT skills, and readiness to pursue Level 5 Leadership Diploma.
  • Experience: Minimum two years in a supervisory role within residential care.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Children's Homes Regulations, Social Care Common Inspection Framework, safeguarding, and person-centred planning.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organisational, and administrative skills with the ability to manage workload, delegate, and handle challenges.
  • Personal Qualities: Role model behaviour, inclusivity, and support for children with additional needs.
  • Commitment to Trauma-Informed Care: Foster empathy, resilience, and self-reflection.
