At SEA LIFE Hunstanton, a positive team spirit, entrepreneurial flair and hard work go hand in hand to make the Merlin magic happen.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead and motivate our talented team of Aquarists as they care for over a thousand incredible creatures, from sharks to sea turtles.
  • Take charge of maintaining and developing our life support systems and ensuring our displays are always clean, safe and world-class.
  • Oversee and refine feed plans, diets and welfare standards to ensure every animal receives exceptional care.
  • Support the Curator with new and exciting exhibit developments, including quarantine and transport processes.
  • Drive innovation across animal husbandry practices, setting the bar high for welfare, conservation and guest experience.
  • Be part of our seal pup rehabilitation work and assist with feeds when required.

This full-time, permanent role works five days from seven, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. You'll also be part of our on-call team to support the creatures that need us most.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong background in aquatic animal husbandry with a passion for marine conservation and education.
  • A confident, self-motivated leader who inspires teams and brings fresh ideas to life.
  • Experience managing or supervising within an aquarium, zoo or similar environment.
  • Understanding of zoo licensing requirements and ideally previous involvement in a zoo licence inspection.
  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as Marine
  • Biology, Zoology or Animal Management.
  • Knowledge of seals, otters, penguins and reptiles is a real advantage.
  • Project management experience would be a plus.
