Job Description – MOT Tester

We are seeking a qualified and experienced MOT Tester to join our busy and growing garage. The ideal candidate will be professional, reliable, and able to work to high standards, with proven experience in MOT testing, repair work and a wide range of general vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities

Carry out MOT tests in line with DVSA standards (Class 4 and Class 7)

Complete MOT documentation and maintain accurate compliance records as a Site Manager

Have the option of supporting the workshop with smaller mechanical jobs when required (30 mins – 2 hrs), including:

  • Brake pads, discs, springs, and calipers
  • Interim services and routine maintenance
  • Suspension work
  • Car diagnostics and fault-finding
  • Tyre fitting and balancing

Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard

Provide clear, professional advice to customers when required

Qualifications/Skills

Level 2 qualification in MOT Testing (DVSA approved)

Minimum 2 years' experience with both Class 4 and Class 7 MOTs

Minimum 5 years' experience in a garage environment

Strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostic ability

Experience working on MOT Repairs, checks, general maintenance etc.

Dynamic and adaptable, with willingness to take on varied jobs

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Always asking 'What's next?' to help workflow

Requirements

Must provide references from previous garage/workshop roles

Full UK driving licence preferred

Hours & Pay

40 to 47 hours per week

Monday to Friday

8.30am to 5pm

Sataday (Most Weeks)

8.30am to 4pm

Pay: £18 – £21 per hour (depending on experience)

Bonuses availible upon met targets
