The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Site Manager to join a respected Tier 2 main contractor delivering high-quality projects for a FTSE 500 client in the defense and technology sector.

You'll be part of a well-established delivery team managing a mix of commercial refurbishment and light civils projects, typically valued between £200k–£750k, as part of a wider £15m+ programme across secure sites in Stevenage

This role offers exposure to complex, high-security environments and the chance to develop within a business known for its strong project delivery and professional culture.

The Role

As Assistant Site Manager, you will:

  • Support the Site Manager in day-to-day site operations, coordination, and delivery
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure work is completed to programme, quality, and safety standards
  • Assist with site documentation, RAMS, and progress reporting
  • Maintain a professional presence with the client and ensure site activities run smoothly
  • Contribute to the successful completion of fast-paced refurbishment and civils works

About You

  • Experience working on
    fit-out, refurbishment, or small works
    (commercial or public sector ideal)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to remain
    methodical and calm
    under pressure
  • Confident when
    client-facing
    and capable of driving standards on site
  • Commutable to
    Stevenage and Henlow
