About the Role | Temporary Kitchen Assistant in Burnley

We're searching for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join a welcoming independent school in Burnley on a temporary basis. Working alongside the kitchen team, you'll play a vital role in supporting daily food preparation, service delivery, and upholding high standards of cleanliness and food safety for students and staff.

Main Responsibilities | School Kitchen Assistant Duties
  • Assist with basic food preparation under the guidance of the chef and kitchen team
  • Serve meals to pupils and staff during designated meal times
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic working environment, including dishwashing and cleaning down surfaces
  • Follow all food safety and health and safety procedures as directed
  • Help with unloading deliveries and stock rotation as required
  • Support the wider catering team with ad hoc duties to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Who We're Looking For | Kitchen Assistant Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or hospitality environment is preferred but not essential
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
  • Keen attention to cleanliness and food hygiene standards
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to tasks
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) required due to the educational setting
