Events & Restaurant Manager – Torr House, Dumfries
Full-time | (40 hours per week)

Torr House is a family-run hotel and events venue in Dumfries, known for hosting weddings, celebrations, and a popular casual dining restaurant. We're looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Events & Restaurant Manager to join our growing team.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding position overseeing both the events and restaurant sides of the business. You'll play a key role in driving growth, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Main responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of events and weddings – from initial enquiry through to event delivery.
- Manage restaurant front of house – greeting guests, taking orders, and leading the service team.
- Drive sales and marketing activity for weddings, private events, and the restaurant (social media, enquiries, packages, etc).
- Work closely with the kitchen and hotel management team to maintain high standards of service and presentation.
- Take ownership of achieving agreed performance goals:
- Minimum of 30 weddings per year (Year 1 target)
- 120+ weekly restaurant covers
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Energetic, organised, and confident in leading a team.
- Experienced in hospitality management or event coordination.
- Passionate about great service and guest experience.
- Able to balance creative ideas with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in event management or a related field, preferably within the hospitality or restaurant sectors.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.
- Experience in fundraising events is an advantage but not essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Time management skills that enable prioritisation of tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting.
