Job Description
The Senior Security Manager role, based in London, offers the opportunity to work within a dedicated team supporting NBCUniversal and NBC News International across the EMEA region. This position requires versatility, as you will operate confidently in both corporate and newsroom environments as well as in austere or hostile settings.

You will be responsible for managing a broad range of security activities - from overseeing risk assessments and security for high-profile events to providing specialist support for news operations in challenging environments. The role demands strong collaboration with multiple stakeholders, management of security providers, and the ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing situations, including out-of-hours support and international travel at short notice.

This position offers the chance to apply a diverse skillset in a complex, fast-paced environment, contributing directly to the safety and security of a global media organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and management of comprehensive security programs to protect NBCUniversal employees, assets, facilities, intellectual property, and reputation across the EMEA region.
  • Review, monitor, and provide security advice for corporate events, news, sports, TV, and film productions as required.
  • Deliver specialist security support for news operations and deployments, including hostile environments, encompassing threat analysis, risk assessment, safety equipment management, and operational deployment of PPE, medical, and safety gear.
  • Provide out-of-hours security support as part of the on-call roster.
  • Oversee risk assessments and ensure compliance with NBCUniversal Physical Security Design Standards for all facilities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Response and Intelligence Centre (GRIC) and other intelligence sources to provide timely threat updates and security responses domestically and internationally.
  • Liaise with NBCUniversal International EHS, IT, HR, GRE, and Facilities teams to deliver security advice and support.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with business leaders and stakeholders to address security issues effectively.
  • Manage third-party security providers - including landlord guards, CCTV, advisory services, executive protection, training, and equipment procurement - ensuring compliance with contracts and company standards.
  • Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management planning in coordination with the NBCU International Business Continuity Director.
  • Engage with local law enforcement and government agencies on security and investigative matters.
  • Lead investigations of security incidents, coordinating with senior leadership, legal teams, and executive management to recommend and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness programs tailored to regional staff needs.
  • Deputise for the Senior Director Security, News, when required.

Travel internationally, often at short notice and potentially to high-risk or hostile environments, to support NBCUniversal operations.

Qualifications

  • Extensive professional experience in military, law enforcement, corporate security, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of corporate security principles, including risk and vulnerability assessments, incident response, intrusion detection, security governance, and policy development.
  • Recent hands-on experience operating in remote, high-risk, or hostile environments.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex intelligence and synthesise actionable security advice under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and comfortable operating in dynamic and ambiguous environments.
  • Certified or experienced in first aid and trauma care, especially in resource-limited contexts.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of briefing and advising senior executives with clarity and authority.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience engaging a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of international politics and geography, with relevant international work experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally, including to high-risk locations, often on short notice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing security services to media organisations and managing security programs in a media environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently, show initiative, and provide pragmatic solutions within complex corporate structures.
  • Extensive international security network, particularly across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.
  • Experience working with senior executives and high-profile talent in a security capacity.
  • Demonstrated success as part of globally dispersed security teams.
