We require Skilled Abattoir Operative to work at our busy multi-specie abattoir in Taunton, Somerset.

This is a full-time position between the days of Monday to Friday, with the possibility of regular overtime. Please note you may be required to work some Saturday's, but this is dependent on work load. We have a traditional slaughter line and operate a very hands on approach.

Guaranteed 40 hours per week.

6:30am start each day until finish (approx 5.00pm)

Main Duties:

  • Working in an abattoir slaughtering cattle, pigs and sheep.
  • Cutting, trimming and dressing of carcasses, maintaining quality and optimal yield.
  • Work in accordance with all Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and Animal Welfare standards.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as assigned by the manager

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Motivated, hardworking and reliable.
  • Fit, mobile and able to work at a good pace.
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Must listen to instructions given by the line manager and act accordingly.
  • Able to work in a pressurised environment whist maintaining quality and high standards in accordance with Food Standard Agency legislation.
