The Role

We're hiring a
Financial Controller
to own the day-to-day financial truth of the business and bring clarity, confidence, and control to a fast-growing environment.

This role exists to remove doubt from the numbers.

You'll sit between a
Finance Administrator
handling transactional processing and a
part-time FD / Accountant
providing statutory and strategic oversight. You are the
single point of accountability
for operational finance accuracy, insight, and visibility.

If the numbers are wrong, late, unclear, or misleading, it's your job to fix them.

• One clear weekly report that leadership fully trusts
• No surprise cash issues, risks are flagged early
• Clear visibility on where money is leaking
• Confident, data-led decisions around hiring, investment, and growth
• Marketing spend is clearly tied to real return
• A structured, calm, proactive finance function

What You'll Own

Finance & Reporting

• Own weekly and monthly management reporting
• Deliver clear, decision-ready insight (no jargon)
• Be accountable for accuracy across all platforms, banks, and payment providers

Cashflow & Risk

• Own cash flow forecasting
• Manage supplier payment timing and exposure
• Surface risks before they become problems

Commercial Insight

• Analyse margins across products, channels, dropship vs warehouse
• Review pricing, promotions, discounting, and trade vs retail pricing
• Monitor supplier price changes, refunds, cancellations, and returns
• Build and manage staff cost and budgeting visibility

Marketing & Growth Support

• Build ROI and CAC reporting by channel (Meta, Google, TikTok, etc.)
• Report spend vs real return
• Challenge inefficient spending and flag diminishing returns
• Act as a commercial counterweight in marketing discussions

Systems, Controls & Automation

• Design strong financial controls and approval processes
• Automate reporting and reconciliations wherever possible
• Improve integrations across Shopify, accounting software, partner systems, banking, and payment platforms

Team & Partnership

• Oversee and review the Finance Administrator's work
• Prepare clean numbers for the part-time FD
• Act as a trusted internal finance partner to the Founder

Who We're Looking For

You'll likely be someone who:

• Has experience as a
  Financial Controller
  or senior commercial finance lead in an SME
• Is systems-minded and obsessed with automation and leverage
• Is commercially curious and comfortable challenging assumptions
• Can simplify complex financial data into clear insight
• Is confident, emotionally intelligent, and grounded
• Hates waste, refunds, inefficiency, and margin erosion

Experience in
e-commerce, retail, wholesale, or multi-channel businesses
is a strong plus.
