General Manager – Be Part of Our Family-Run Pub

We're a family-run pub looking for the right person to step in as General Manager and help us take the business to the next level.

This isn't a corporate role and it's not a "sit in the office and manage spreadsheets" job. We want someone who genuinely cares about people, service, and building something they can be proud of.

If you treat a pub like a business and a home for staff and guests, you'll fit right in.

What the Role Is Really About

You'll be hands-on and involved in the day-to-day running of the pub, including:

  • Making sure the pub runs smoothly every day
  • Looking after the team – leading from the front, not shouting from the sidelines
  • Helping recruit, train, and support staff so they actually enjoy coming to work
  • Being visible on the floor, talking to customers, solving problems as they happen
  • Working closely with the kitchen to keep food quality high and consistent
  • Keeping standards up – cleanliness, presentation, and atmosphere matter here
  • Managing rotas, stock, basic costs, and keeping waste under control
  • Handling customer feedback properly (not hiding from it)
  • Bringing ideas to the table to grow the business, improve service, and increase trade

This role is about ownership, not just responsibility.

Who We're Looking For

We're not chasing fancy titles. We care about attitude and experience.

You'll probably be someone who:

  • Has experience running or supervising a pub, restaurant, or hospitality venue
  • Is comfortable being hands-on – floor, bar, kitchen liaison, the lot
  • Understands food safety and basic compliance (and takes it seriously)
  • Can lead people without ego – firm, fair, and supportive
  • Actually enjoys hospitality and dealing with people
  • Thinks like a business owner, not a clock-watcher
  • Can stay calm when it's busy and make decisions on the spot

Barista experience is a bonus, but personality and leadership matter more.
