About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Maintenance Operative to join our team at Dunniwood Lodge, helping to ensure our care home remains a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, team members, and visitors. You'll play a key role in the day-to-day upkeep of the home, responding to maintenance needs, carrying out repairs, and supporting the smooth running of the building in line with our values: being there for each other, being authentic, being positive and light-hearted, and creating meaningful relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks and repairs across the home, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general upkeep.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from team members and residents, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct regular checks of equipment, fixtures, and fittings to ensure they are in good working order.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure the home complies with health and safety regulations, including fire safety, water hygiene, and equipment servicing.
  • Support with emergency procedures and be available to respond to urgent maintenance issues.
  • Maintain clear records of maintenance work, inspections, and compliance checks.

Environmental Support

  • Help keep the home's environment clean, tidy, and well-maintained, including outdoor areas such as gardens, pathways, and car parks.
  • Assist with moving furniture, setting up rooms for activities or new residents, and supporting team members with practical tasks around the home.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with care team members, managers, and external contractors to ensure the home runs smoothly.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, taking time to understand their needs and preferences when carrying out work in their rooms or shared spaces.
  • Uphold our values in all interactions, contributing to a positive and supportive atmosphere.

Requirements of the Role

Experience & Knowledge

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities role, ideally within a care home or similar setting.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics, and general building maintenance.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and willingness to undertake relevant training.

Teamwork & Behaviour

  • Friendly, approachable, and respectful attitude, with a commitment to supporting the wellbeing of residents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing tasks and prioritising effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Eligibility

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to undertake a DBS check for the role.
