DEPARTMENT: BBC Studios - User experience
LOCATION: London – TVC
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £66,000 - £76,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. Plus London Weighting Allowance of £5,441. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
You will be leading UX Research and Design for a new product group spanning BBC brands like Bluey, Doctor Who, and BBC Earth. You'll grow a developing UX practice, shaping how teams and the wider business approach user experience. By understanding user needs, you'll deliver impactful solutions that improve usability and engagement across global websites—enhancing experiences for millions of visitors. Key Responsibilities And Impact
- Planning and carrying out user research & contributing to product briefs.
- Sizing and planning UX&D work across a number of products.
- Managing senior business stakeholders across several products.
- Enabling transition user centred and product centred models.
- Collaborating with the product team to deliver design work.
- Creating wireframes, prototypes & UI design in Figma.
- Collaborating with the wider UX&D team to solve problems.
- Engage with external design or research agencies, and develop their working practice to become an extension of the internal team.
Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Extensive experience in user experience design with strong knowledge of digital media.
- Proven ability to lead and deliver user-centered design and research initiatives.
- Skilled in creating Prototypes, wireframes, user flows, layouts, and applying principles of color and typography.
- Expert at leveraging industry insights, market trends, audience research, and analytics to shape design strategies.
- Adept at prioritizing audience needs and translating them into actionable design plans.
- Knowledge of setting up and running testing with users to challenge hypotheses and assumptions.
- Good understanding of Figma, Miro and other relevant technologies and best practices within the industry.
Desired But Not Required
- Experience of working in a commercially driven enviroment.
- Working knowledge of Design Systems.
- Hypothesis driven design.
- Multivarient testing tools.
- Accessible design practices.
