Software Support Technician

We are a UK-based software development company specialising in solutions for industrial weighing and stock management systems, with specific interests within Grain Stores / Agriculture sector. Our products integrate advanced data handling, process automation, and real-time reporting to help clients operate efficiently and accurately.
We are looking for a Software Support Technician to join our friendly team and provide high-quality technical support to our customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first and second-line support to end users for bespoke industrial weighing and stock management software.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot software, database, and configuration issues.
- Investigate SQL Server–related problems, including queries, stored procedures, and data integrity issues.
- Assist with software installation, configuration, and updates on client systems.
- Work closely with the development team to reproduce, document, and escalate software bugs or feature requests.
- Design, modify, and troubleshoot SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) reports using Report Builder.
- Maintain detailed records of support requests, resolutions, and change logs.
- Provide remote or on-site technical assistance as required.
- Support system testing, deployment, and documentation for new software releases.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a software support or technical support role.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server — including T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and database maintenance.
- Experience with SSRS Report Builder (creating and editing reports).
- Familiarity with Windows Server environments, networking fundamentals, and user permissions.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple support cases and meet response/resolution targets.
- Strong documentation and customer service skills.
- Full UK driving licence (for occasional site visits).
Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting industrial control or weighing systems.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Visual Studio (for configuration, debugging, or deployment support).
- Familiarity with C# environments.
- Knowledge of stock control, inventory management, or manufacturing systems.
- Understanding of data integration (e.g. APIs, data import/export).
